The cleft ion fountain A twodimensional kinetic model
نویسندگان
چکیده
The transport of ionospheric ons from a source in the polar cleft ionosphere through the polax magnetosphere is investigated using a two-dimensional, kinetic, trajectory-based code. The transport model includes the effects of gravitation, longitudinal magnetic gradient force, convection electric fields, and parallel electric fields. Individual ion trajectories a well as distribution functions and resulting bulk paxameters of density, paxallel average nergy, and paxallel f ux for a presumed cleft ionosphere source distribution are presented for various conditions to illustrate parametrically the dependences on source energies, convection electric field strengths, ion masses, and parallel electric field strengths. The essential features of the model are consistent with the concept of a cleft-based ion fountain supplying ionospheric ions to the polar magnetosphere, and the resulting plasma distributions and parameters are in general agreement with recent low-energy ion measurements from the DE 1 satellite.

The Study of Kinetic and Biosorption of Pb Ion by Rice Husk from Wastewater
An agricultural waste i.e. rice husk has been used as a cheap adsorbent for the removal ofleadas a harmful heavy metal from contaminated water via adsorption. The adsorption capacity of rice husk was calculated by equilibrium models. The results showed that the adsorption process has the best accordance with Langmuir model. The kinetics of the adsorption was also investigated and obtained that ...
متن کاملTiie Modelled Occurrence of Non-thermal Plasma in the Ionospheric F-region and the Possible Consequences for Ion Outflows into the Magnetosphere
A global, time-dependent, threedimensional, coupled ionosphere-thermosphere model is used to predict the spatial distribution of non-thermal plasma in the F-layer. It is shown that, even for steady-state conditions with Kp as low as 3, the difference between the ion and neutral velocities often exceeds the neutral thermal speed by a factor, D', which can be as large as 4. Theoretically, highly ...

متن کاملGalactic dynamo and helicity losses through fountain flow
Aims. Nonlinear behaviour of galactic dynamos is studied, allowing for magnetic helicity removal by the galactic fountain flow. Methods. A suitable advection speed is estimated, and a one-dimensional mean-field dynamo model with dynamic α-effect is explored. Results. It is shown that the galactic fountain flow is efficient in removing magnetic helicity from galactic discs. This alleviates the c...
متن کاملAdsorption Equilibrium and Kinetics of Lead Ion onto Synthetic Ferrihydrites
Batch experiments were conducted to study the adsorption behaviors of lead ion (Pb2+) onto ferrihydrites prepared using three different procedures which were characterized by textural analysis (BET). The adsorption removal of Pb2+ by the three ferrihydrites (called FH-1, FH-2 and FH-3, respectively) were compared, and FH-3 shows fast adsorption kinetics as well as hig...
